Technology as an enabler for working remotely
And then Covid-19 changed the world. (but to be honest, the change was already happening before the pandemic).
Because of advances in communication technology and internet access, teleworking has become standard practice all around the world.
The technology we use today has enabled us to work more remotely.
In 2019 before the pandemic, 9% of people working in Europe reported that they were working remotely sometimes. During Covid-19, that figure rose to 40%.
A boom in people working from home pretty much happened overnight. And there is no current indication that it is going down to the same levels again. Dingel & Neiman predict up to 30% of all jobs in Europe will be changed to remote work in the future.

It could mean that your employees turn to coffee shops, co-working spaces, or traveling while maintaining their day-to-day duties.
